Prodigal

Phylicia Morgan and Phoebe Cox are identical twins who share a love for the same man. Reverend Gary Morgan, pastor of Freedom Inspiration only has eyes for one twin, his high school sweetheart and wife Phylicia. He loves her dearly and feels she is the virtuous woman a minister needs by his side.

That doesn’t stop her manipulative sister from masquerading as Phylicia and seducing Gary. When he realizes his mistake Gary informs Phoebe he could never love her and marries her sister.

Brokenhearted Phoebe tries to live her life without him but her jealousy of her sister consumes her causing her to unexpectedly leave town.

When their mother becomes fatally ill Phoebe is forced to return to her hometown after 12 years and face her sister and her first love.

Days before her mother’s funeral a young woman they’ve never met shows up at Phylicia and Gary’s door revealing herself as Phoebe’s daughter; Pharrah. She came to meet the man her late grandmother told her was her natural father, Gary Morgan.

Phylicia accepts Pharrah into her home out of duty, but her struggle to deal with the knowledge that Phoebe shares a child with her husband builds a wall that blocks Gary from her heart. Phoebe, however, is filled with glee as she settles into life in her hometown. She happily observes as her sister's holy matrimony slowly crumbles into a hurtful melodrama.

This retelling of the Biblical story of the Prodigal Son adds a dramatically modern twist to the separation of siblings and their respective journeys back into the fold of God.

Prodigal will be released by Urban Christian Publishing in November 2009.
